Choose an area code and PIN. We assign their phone number, then guide you through forwarding new mail from their Gmail.

Show them the first call
They dial their number, enter their PIN and hear who’s written. The spoken menus let them choose a message, hear a summary or listen in more detail.

Keep an eye on things
Your dashboard shows recent calls, how many emails are waiting and when the latest email arrived. You can check in from wherever you are.
Why Hear My Mail exists

Hear My Mail was built by a son for his own dad. His phone line runs on the same system yours will. It’s a practical way to help someone stay connected when reading email on a screen is difficult.

Does my loved one need a smartphone?
No. A landline or flip phone works, as long as it has a keypad. They’ll need to dial a number, enter a PIN, hear the prompts and press buttons to choose what to listen to. Try the sample mailbox together first.
Which email accounts work?
The setup guide is for personal Gmail accounts. You’ll need access to their Gmail, with their permission, to turn on forwarding. Only new forwarded messages arrive in Hear My Mail; it doesn’t import their old inbox. Work or school accounts may have forwarding restrictions.
Can they reply to emails on the phone?
Not yet. Hear My Mail is for listening. They’ll still need your help, or another way to use their email, when they want to send a reply.
What about photos and attachments?
Hear My Mail describes photos and summarizes supported PDFs and spreadsheets. Scanned PDFs without readable text aren’t supported. AI creates the summaries and descriptions, so they can contain mistakes; check the original when a detail matters.
How is their email kept private?
You don’t give Hear My Mail their Gmail password. Gmail sends copies of the mail you choose to forward, and you can turn that forwarding off in Gmail. A PIN is required on every call. Forwarded messages, attachments and derived content are removed on a 90-day schedule.
Listening to a message doesn’t mark it as read or change it in their Gmail inbox.
How do I cancel?
Open your dashboard and choose “Manage billing” to manage or cancel your subscription through Stripe. Cancel before your free trial ends if you don’t want the monthly subscription to start.
